This device falls horribly short from all of the raving reviews. Mainly due to the fact that it’s only ever tested on a Windows based machine. Once configured on a Mac, the drives connected to the device must be FAT, FAT32 or NTFS.
You could possibly allow this, if you don’t work with single files larger than 4GB. The networking capabilities are horrible.
You get an OK transfer rate (obviously dependant on your device, signal etc) but don’t think you can connect this to your wired network and then transfer data that way around. Oh no, it constantly drops the connection causing a lot of headache, it will cause your mac to become super slow/laggy while it’s failing to move a file over and the software provided is klunky, kudos to who ever created the application, but why on earth was the installer left as PPC and not UB?
I manages to upload one 300mb file while on Ethernet via FTP, but this failed the first time round. Streaming to the XBOX is good, however it is a mission to get any decent media onto the unit in the first place, you might as well plug the USB device into your xbox. It’s 99% quicker.
It is astonishing that Belkin provides zero support for this device too, the premium rate number puts you through to someone who (after 10 minutes of researching the device themselves) recites the user manual.
I wanted to love this device, I can only hate it. A waste of time and money. I would highly recommend you avoid this, at all costs.
I hope play.com approve this, it would be unfair to allow other mac users (and possibly window users) to be subjected to such a vile device.
